Dr. Theroux is a licensed psychologist, working in private practice since 1995. As a therapist, she specializes in the treatment of individuals with depression, anxiety, chronic pain, eating disorders and addictive behaviors. She helps individuals identify and express difficult emotions, utilizing mindfulness and Nonviolent Communication. She is a registered Nonviolent Communication Trainer Candidate with the Center for Nonviolent Communication.
Dr. Theroux is certified to teach Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) by the Oasis Institute at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Healthcare, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She is also a trained Mindful Self-Compassion teacher, receiving her training at the University of California at San Diego's Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute.
One of Dr. Theroux's greatest passions is assisting individuals who struggle with emotional eating. She is a certified Eat For Life mindful eating teacher, as well as a group facilitator for the Eat Right Now program.
A passionate advocate for improving self-care among health care professionals, Dr. Theroux provides mindful meditation drop-ins for healthcare companies to help prevent caregiver burnout. She also co-founded International Seminars Group, an American Psychological Association (APA) continuing education sponsor.
